Without Merit Dec 22, 2011
By Lightman This book is virtually useless.
It's a classic case of over promise and under deliver.
What's the promise? Disclosure and description of "1001 of the World's Greatest Backcountry Honeyholes, Trout Rivers, Blue Ribbon Waters, Bass Lakes and Saltwater Hot Spots".
What's delivered?
Tourist locations, vague descriptions, and unhelpful generalizations.
Entire countries with myriad outstanding fishing opportunities get superficial passing mention.
Instead of trying fruitlessly to characterize virtually all the fishing in the world, the author should have located 1001 interesting locations, and provided some helpful information about each.
That's what I thought I'd be getting.
This one will gather dust.
Great read for fishermen and others Oct 25, 2010
By Jack Darrin Murphy If you have ever fished.....this book will stir the memories and make you plan a trip. It is part educational, part storytelling but all entertaining.
A Collection of Global Fly Fishing Dreams Jul 30, 2010
By Beowulff In the introduction to this massive and massively entertaining book, author Mark Williams says his goal was to write a book of fishing dreams, a "sit-on-the-pot kind of book, the type of book that sometimes inspires you to get off your duff and make plans." Williams succeeds and then some with this ambitious work that covers an astounding amount of rivers, lakes and salt water spots in just about every state, country and continent you care to name. As with all his other books, Williams offer reams of expert angling advice peppered with amusing anecdotes in an addictive writing style that sets his work far above most other angling books. Unlike most fishing writers, Williams is as adept with the pen as he is the rod, so even if you only ever get to fish a fraction of the waters presented in this volume, you'll still feel like you fished them all - at least in your dreams.

Great gift for fishers Oct 12, 2008
By C. Snider It was a gift, and my father (new to fishing) loved it. Though he regrets he won't be able to go to all the places (or probably even 100), he really enjoyed reading about all of the different options for fishing sites in the world.

A Good Gift Jan 26, 2008
By RosaG With 1001 fishing spots discussed, this is a great gift for the fisherman who likes to travel to try new venues. Lots of ideas to prompt further research so that any business/pleasure trip can incorporate some special fishing.
