5Compelling Story you can't put down!  May 05, 2008 By David Pelizzari
This is a compelling story of corruption and abuse of power by Law Enforcement in the murder of a young Police Officer on Bald Head Island in Brunswick County , N C. A story every citizen should read to see how money and power can overtake the reality we assume as Protection in this country. When you start this book you will not put it down!

5This book is astounding, a must read  May 20, 2008 By Waltzing Matilda
I read this book twice in as many days. The behavior of the elected officials who "investigated" the murder of Davina Buff Jones is an insult to the citizens of Brunswick County, NC. The treatment this young woman's family has endured is unspeakable. The DA's refusal to reopen this case further implicates the involvement of government officials and makes himself appear to be a spineless individual. How sad that Ms. Jones and the good people of Brunswick County were betrayed by those who were elected and entrusted to serve and protect. I hope someday that someone with integrity and more power than these "good ole boys" will be brave enough to expose them. Their continuous denial of the evidence is absurd, resulting in Davina Jones becoming an even bigger hero since being murdered. This book should be made into a movie! (There's also an interesting documentary titled: The Work Series: Sheriff, featuring former Sheriff Hewett and others who are mentioned in this book.)

2Out with three  Jun 13, 2008 By Barbara T. Griffin
This book has personal ties because the murder happened very close to my home and the victim was the daughter of an acquaintance. It is not well written, but the facts are compelling. It reinforced my opinion that the investigation was totally mishandled by authorities too concerned about the inconvenience to the wealthy residents of Bald Head Island to look into what actually happened. Some people do get away with murder.

5GREAT read  Jul 22, 2009 By Elana P. Carroll "Leah's mom"
This book is a great read. As a resident of Oak Island, I am dumbfounded that the RICH of Bald Head Island can SWEEP this under the "Sand". Goes to show that with money anything or anyone can be bought and sold...It's time for Brunswick County to WAKE UP...and NOT allow this to continue

5Outstanding research  Nov 16, 2010 By Kelly
Davina was a friend of mine in high school and I was blown away after finding out this terrible news. The book was written with so much feeling and determination. I am so ready to see justice served. The Buff family deserves to see the criminals put behind bars and Davina's name cleared and honored!
