5A one-of-a-kind cookbook  Jun 27, 2005 By Steve Sorensen
Love him or hate him, the rock & roll legend Ted Nugent is probably the most outspoken advocate for "blood sports" today. And when he turns to the domestic side of hunting -- the preparation and cooking of wild game meat -- you'll find it a lot harder to hate him because you'll love the dishes he prepares and the way he talks about them.

The attitude of this book is "Life is a BBQ" (a direct Nugent quote), and most of the 22 chapters are followed by one or more recipes. Underlying the cooking theme is Nugent's reverence for wildlife and his unapologetic explanation of what it takes for wildlife to thrive in the modern world. Nugent argues that habitat destruction, not the hunter, poses the greatest threat to wildlife; that the cruelty of nature offers no reason for man not to participate; that hunters are the greatest conservationists; and that wildlife is a renewable resource. These are truths that hunters should shout from the mountaintops.

Kill It & Grill It is worth having in your kitchen. It's a unique cookbook for sure.

5YUMMY  Aug 22, 2003 By LORD CROM "LIBSTOMPER"
There is NOTHING better than being in the outdoors and bagging your own chow, be it mammalian or fish. Ted and Shemane have HIT THE MARK! The recipes are EXCELLENT and being a predator myself, grilling a tasty rack of deer with Ted's recipe for marinade DON'T GET ANY BETTER! Rock on.

4A Man's Cookbook  Dec 29, 2003 By Travel Enthusiast
As my husband loves to hunt wild game, I bought this book for him as a farce. However, it has turned out to be a great purchase. I was at a loss as how to clean and cook wild game until "Kill It and Grill It" came along. This is the only cookbook I've bought that my husband hasn't complained about and it's an entertaining and "colorful" read as well.

5Best Wild Game Cook Book  Feb 25, 2003 By David Firestone
The recipe's are great and the anecdotes provided by Ted and Shemane make this the most enjoyable cook book I've read. This is definitely not Julia Child.

5Chill Out!  Aug 01, 2002 By William H. Addeo
As an avid predator and self taught chef I think this book is a grand slam home run. If you do not like this book then you are a prima-donna hunter or a scavenger. Talking turkey is what hunting and gathering is all about. Kill it, dress it, chill it and eat it. Most meathheads have other people kill and prepare their animals. I call those people scavengers. Very much like the vulture. Predators, are those of us who collect our food ourselves and prepare it properly for the fabulous feast. This book is the ultimate interpretation of that process. From beginning to end the "Nugents" have teamed up to put everything into perspective. Having properly declared hunting a sacred event, they take you on a safari of the mind, soul and body. If you believe, as I do, that hunting is a lifestyle, not just a hobby, then this book is for you. On the other hand, if you are a yellow bellied sap sucker who brings their zip lock bags to the buffet line for early bird specials, don't waste your time trying to understand the real world. It is already too late for you. The Nugents talk straight from the soul and shoot even straighter. Their way of cooking is born out of respect for the animal and dignity for the hunt. It is a real pleasure to be invited into someones home through a book instead of a television. This is really a magical mystery tour of the senses. I have tried some of the formulas and have enjoyed the wholesome approach to killing it and grilling it. In a canned world filled with fast foods and fat people, exploring the alternatives should be mandatory in the school of life. On the other hand, the more people eating boffo bugers at dingy drive throughs, The less I have to deal with hobby hunters who kill a wonderful animal for a photograph. This book is boot camp for the beginners and food for thought for the experienced. This is not a cook book. It is a way of life...Refreshing, invigorating, stimulating, intriguing and exciting. You are what you eat. Try it...You'll like it!
It is time for me to go.....Hunting!
Happy Trails to You!
